Aikido weapons training involves practice with the Jo (Wooden Staff), Ken or Bokken (Wooden Sword) and Tanto (Wooden Knife) for the purpose of knife disarming techniques.

Forms are practiced with the Jo and Ken either alone or with a training partner. Weapons taking and disarming techniques are practiced with the Jo, Ken, and Tanto and is required during higher level testing.

Many of Aikido’s armed and unarmed defense techniques are similar and interchangeable. Practice with Aikido weapons helps enhance unarmed defense techniques.

Purchase of a Jo and Ken is required for Adult class members. Purchase of weapons can be made through the Dojo or from outside sources.
